Many of those who are overweight or obese and want to lose weight are interested in: can this be achieved with the help of drugs? No you can not.

They may object to me: but there are medicines that suppress appetite! Indeed, there are such medicines – they are called anorectics – they have a depressing effect on the center of hunger in the brain. But these potent drugs are prescribed for a short time and only in a hospital. The patient must be under the supervision of a doctor, since anorectics can cause dysfunctions of the central nervous system, liver, cause mental disorders, insomnia. Therefore, I strongly advise: if you want to lose weight and stay healthy, do not resort to self-medication with anorectics!

At the disposal of everyone who has firmly decided to lose the load of extra pounds, there are medicines created by nature itself. These are primarily vegetables (except for potato rich in starch). They are low-calorie and at the same time voluminous, due to which they give a feeling of satiety, without significantly increasing the overall calorie content of the diet. In addition, they are rich in plant fibers that enhance intestinal motility. And this helps to prevent constipation, which, as a rule, plump people suffer.

Plant fibers contained in vegetables help to remove excess cholesterol from the body, which prevents the development or progression of atherosclerosis – a disease that goes hand in hand with obesity, especially in the elderly. In addition, antioxidants were discovered in many vegetables – substances that have geroprotective, that is, anti-aging, properties. And most importantly, antioxidants are classified as substances that prevent the negative effects of stress. It is also noted that those who include vegetables in sufficient quantities in their diet have less often tumors of the colon.

So try daily to include in the menu 600 – 800 grams of various vegetables. Replace them with flour dishes and pasta. By the way, everything flour, sweet, fat you have to drastically reduce. Vegetables are useful in any form – stewed, boiled; but be sure to eat most of them raw, in the form of salads.

Prepare raw white cabbage salad daily. You can add apples, carrots and season with vegetable oil. Raw cabbage has tartronic acid, which prevents the formation of fat in the body from excess carbohydrates. During heat treatment, this acid is destroyed.

Almost everything said about vegetables applies to fruits, except, of course, glucose-rich grapes, bananas, dates and figs.

An effective means of combating extra pounds is vegetable oil; in sunflower, corn, olive, cottonseed oil contains polyunsaturated fatty acids, which normalize lipid (fat) metabolism, that is, activate the processes of expenditure of fat by the body. These acids delay the penetration of cholesterol into the vascular wall and the formation of atherosclerotic plaques in it. Vegetable oil also has a choleretic effect. But many obese people have a violation of the biliary function of the gallbladder. Unrefined oil is more useful, and it is better to season salads with it.

But just like any medicine requires a certain dosage, vegetable oil is recommended per day no more than 30 grams (2 tablespoons). It is not necessary to increase this dose, since vegetable oil is very high in calories. Compare: the calorie content of 100 grams of butter (peasant) – 661 kilocalories, 100 grams of ghee – 887 kilocalories, 100 grams of olive oil – 898 calories, 100 grams of sunflower oil – 899 kilocalories. And older people should not exceed the norms of vegetable oil because polyunsaturated fatty acids, when ingested in excess, are involved in the formation of substances that activate the aging process.

An affordable and very effective “cure” against obesity is cottage cheese, especially low-fat. 100-150 grams of cottage cheese contains a sufficient amount of the amino acid methionine. It is proved that this acid regulates lipid metabolism in the body, prevents fatty degeneration of the liver. In addition, methionine belongs to antioxidants, the valuable properties of which have already been mentioned here. And yet, despite the fact that cottage cheese is healthy, eating it higher than the indicated norm is not recommended, since systematic excessive consumption of cottage cheese can lead to the formation of kidney stones.

Do not forget that in the diet, in addition to vegetables, cottage cheese, vegetable oil, you need to include 150 – 200 grams of meat, poultry or fish daily. better in boiled form. The fact is that during cooking, most of the purine bases, which have an adverse effect on metabolic processes, come out of the meat and fish into the broth. And they are in the body of obese people and so are disturbed.

Your menu should have milk, dairy products (500 grams), a little (10 grams) of butter, two or three slices of brown bread.

Once a week you can eat oatmeal or buckwheat.

Let me remind you of another, perhaps the most effective “medicine” against obesity – physical activity.

Move more, replacing walking if possible in transport, do morning exercises, make time for out-of-town walks or skiing. In your free time, try to keep yourself interesting, useful. And more optimism, positive emotions!
