Why and how does osteochondrosis occur
Scientists estimate that back pain is observed in almost half of the fair sex. In principle, there is nothing unusual here, because the back “carries” the weight of the head, arms and body, which is about 2/3 of the total body weight. Nature made sure that the back was able to withstand a load of 700 kg to 2 tons. However, do not test your back for strength.
I must say that the maximum load falls on the back at the moment when a person lifts something heavy with a jerk.
If there is a strong desire to rip off your back, then you must act in this way.
But not only lifting heavy loads carries a danger to the back. It may not seem strange, but clothes made from synthetics are also dangerous for the back. Wearing such clothes exposes the back to the common cold, as synthetic clothing is very well drafted.
Do not even sit down on chairs and sofas with force so as not to deform the intervertebral discs, which in this case are subject to heavy wear. And going on a long trip, you must definitely bring along a suitcase equipped with wheels, but not a shoulder bag or backpack. Although I must say that the positive side of wearing a backpack is that in it a lot of things are located evenly along the entire back. However, if it is possible to put things in such a suitcase on wheels, then it is advisable to use it.
Also, the back begins to hurt a lot after a long sitting at the computer. In addition, in addition to the back, the head and neck begin to hurt. To relieve muscle tension and strengthen muscles, it is recommended to perform special isometric exercises. For example, put your hand on the cheek of the same name and try to tilt your head to the side, obstructing the tilt with your hand. Tighten muscles can be no more than 7 seconds. Now you can change your hand and tilt to the other side. Do this exercise with an inclination back and forth.
But the main enemy for the back is osteochondrosis, which has a detrimental effect on the vertebrae and cartilage discs that are located between them. Osteochondrosis affects almost all people over 36 years old. Moreover, the development of this disease does not occur immediately, but gradually.
“For life”, the bodies of adjacent vertebrae are interconnected by an intervertebral disc, which serves as a vertebra fixator and a shock absorber, softening the spine. The intervertebral disk itself consists of a very dense fibrous ring, which is covered with cartilage, under which there is a core with synovial fluid.
So, this liquid can dry for various reasons. And without fluid, the intervertebral disc begins to dry and cracks appear on it. Fragments of the affected fibrous ring diverge to the sides and knock out a peculiar niche in the vertebral body. The formation of Schmorl’s hernia begins. However, this process is not accompanied by pain. Usually, people at the same time feel some discomfort in the cervical or lumbar.
A disk that has undergone deformation is no longer able to perform the function of a shock absorber, so the vertebrae begin to shift back or forward. However, the body must maintain such a decaying vertebral structure in a normal state, therefore, the flexible structure of the spine is replaced by a more rigid structure, which can be compared, except with a stone. Therefore, such a spine becomes less mobile and flexible.
Similar spinal problems usually begin without any symptoms. Therefore, we must try to listen to the first subtle malfunctions in the spine. That is, does a feeling of discomfort appear in the back, neck, lower back? Does the head hurt, do back muscles ache, etc. If all this takes place, then it is time to see a doctor.
A pretty good way to treat osteochondrosis is kinesitherapy. This is called motion treatment. If osteochondrosis is at an early stage, then in this case fitness, walking, swimming, etc. helps a lot. But osteochondrosis of the 3rd or 4th degree should be treated only under the supervision of doctors.
