Pancreatitis

What is pancreatitis? Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas.

A 40-year-old man was brought by an ambulance. On the eve of his friends, he marked the end of urgent work. We drank a little, had a bite than we have to. And today, an unbearable girdle pain forced to call an ambulance. Yes, and before that I noticed some deviations in the state of health; after drinking a glass of alcohol for several days there was loose stool, periodically there was pain either under the spoon, then in the lower back, or on the left side of the chest.

The patient had an exacerbation of the chronic inflammatory process in the pancreas – pancreatitis. Note: in men, the most common cause of this severe progressive disease is alcohol. And not only for those who drink constantly and in large doses. A glass of food “for appetite” before meals, occasional booze – this is enough to cause inflammation of the pancreas.

In women, pancreatitis most often develops against a background of biliary tract diseases. The conclusion, therefore, may be one; in the prevention of chronic pancreatitis, the main thing is the complete exclusion of alcohol and timely treatment of diseases of the stomach, liver, and intestines.

The doctor, depending on the characteristics of the course of the disease, concomitant diseases and complications, prescribes individual treatment. It is important not only to take the medicine carefully, but also to follow the recommendations regarding the regime of work, rest, behavior, nutrition.

For a person suffering from chronic pancreatitis, adequate sleep (at least 7-8 hours) is especially important, and he needs daily walks in the fresh air. Proper rest prevents the development of such patients with weakness, fatigue, irritability. It is noted that exacerbation of pancreatitis often occurs against the background of psychoemotional stress or physical overwork. If the condition does not improve, the patient should consider switching to another, easier job.

It is not recommended to sit for a long time, as this increases pressure on the pancreas, which can lead to the occurrence or intensification of pain. At work, after an hour or two of sitting at the table for a few minutes walk around, wait. At home, lie down from time to time or sit reclining in an armchair. The physical load on the abdominal press must be limited, do not wear tight belts and belts.

It is extremely important to eat right. This allows you to prevent exacerbation of the disease, reduce or relieve pain. The main principle of diet therapy for chronic pancreatitis is the ingestion of small portions 4-6 times a day. Do not eat excessively hot and especially cold dishes and drink such drinks. Without exacerbation, stale wheat bread, vegetarian soups (vegetable, cereal), main dishes from low-fat boiled beef and fish in the form of steam cutlets, meatballs, rolls, soufflé are allowed. Vegetables (potatoes, beets, carrots) need to be boiled, you can cook vinaigrette from them. Butter – in small quantities; it is better to add vegetable oil to the dishes (sunflower, corn, olive). Porridge is cooked only on water from oat, rice, buckwheat. Recommended noodles, vermicelli, boiled pasta, low-fat cottage cheese.

You will have to completely exclude from the diet rich meat, fish, chicken, mushroom soups and broths, fatty beef, lamb, pork, goose and duck meat, mushrooms, canned food, smoked products, pickles, pickles, onions, garlic, radishes, fried, stewed dishes, cakes, pastries, pies, pancakes, butter biscuits, chocolates, whole milk, sodas, strong coffee and tea.

If an exacerbation has occurred, but it is manifested by pain, bloating, indigestion, you need to go to bed, put cold on your stomach and eat nothing before the doctor arrives.

Usually, the attending physician, when prescribing medication, recommends taking multivitamins, especially B vitamins, as well as alkaline mineral waters. At home, mineral water (Slavyanovskaya, Smirnovskaya, Borjomi) is drunk for a month or two, then, after consulting a doctor, the course can be repeated. Water should be at room temperature, without gas. Drink 100-150 grams in half an hour – an hour after eating.

Treatment at a drinking resort is very effective no earlier than two months after the abatement subsides. Physiotherapeutic procedures and mud therapy are not indicated.

For a patient with chronic pancreatitis, self-medication is especially dangerous, taking on the advice of relatives or friends some kind of “miraculous” folk remedies, foreign drugs that have not been tested and are not used in our country. They can cause an exacerbation of the disease and, in the absence of the necessary treatment, lead to such a severe life-threatening complication as pancreatic necrosis. The only adviser for the patient should be the attending physician!
